DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST JANUARY TOUR

So before it’s all holiday all the time, I wanted to post the final piece of the how-to-get-a-copy-of-Darkest-Part-of-the-Forest puzzle: my Book Tour dates. This time it’s mostly going to be East Coast (and Seattle!) and I will be in New Jersey where I haven’t been in a while.

If you’re in the area, you can come and I will personalize a copy of Darkest Part of the Forest just for you and we can talk about books, faeries, fairy tales. I will tell you secret things, sign with fancy pens, and give you presents. Come!

However, if you can’t come to an event and you want to pre-order the book, (a) you can pre-order from these indie bookstores and get a bookplate and a poster (some stores are willing to ship overseas should that be a thing you are interested in), (b) you can pre-order a signed book from Barnes & Noble, (c) you could pre-order a book from any one of the stores I am touring (these ones in this post) and I’ll sign it for you when I get there, or (d) you can pre-order a regular, unsigned book from anywhere books are sold.

Please come back to Saint Charles, Missouri. It was so wonderful to see you for Magisterium, which I read and loved! I have been waiting for your new one to come out. So happy it will be released soon. Keep writing!

  2. Julia Kha says:

    So,um,who’s Jack’s father?It’s driving me nuts.Apparently I’m supposed to be able to guess…Jack’s the potential heir…it can’t be Severin though…Alderking? nah…Argh!PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Thank you!

  3. Julia Kha says:

Who’s Jack’s father? I think I got it. Is it Alderking? He’s sworn to murder his next child,so there was a little deception…Okay.

    1. Holly Black says:

Well, we never found out FOR SURE, because Jack stopped his faery mother from telling him, but I think that’s a pretty good guess.

      1. Julia Kha says:

Thanks for answering.I love the Modern Faerie Tale universe! Feel a bit silly, too,as I can’t really consider myself a young anything anymore, but your style is so lovely, both visionary and completely devoid of the purple, overblown self-indulgence so many fantasy authors wallow in…

      2. Beth says:

Severin told Jack his father was a mortal. That means it can’t be the Alderking. That leads me to believe it’s an adult human character we’ve met, his adoptive father perhaps? Seeing as he looks just like Carter…

        1. Holly Black says:

Possible, but possible that Severin doesn’t know the true answer. What he says is: “They told me that a little more than a sesquidecade back, the Alderking took another one of the wild fey as a lover. She tarried with a mortal, though, and bore him child.” Faeries can’t lie, but they can be misled. On the other hand, Jack’s mother implied certain things, but didn’t state them outright either. Perhaps the mystery will be solved in the future. I like your theory.

  4. Darcey says:

Please come to England, preferably London. I love your books so much and really want to meet one of my favorite authors.

    1. Holly Black says:

I was just in London this past fall for Magisterium and also in 2013 for Coldtown, so it seems likely that I will be back soon!

  5. ren says:

You totally need to come back to NJ so upset I missed this !!! <3 your books

  6. Jana says:

  7. Mariah says:

I just finished the book and really enjoyed it. But I am also confused on who Jack’s father is. I leaded to believe it to be Severin because when Jack tells who his mother is and Severin knows her. It he gives a strange look hearing the name and Hazel thinks he knows her better then he is letting off. We also know if both Severin and the Alderking died Jack would be next in line. It wouldn’t be the Alderking because if it was his child then he would have no reason to be mad at Jack’s mother, for supposedly deceiving him and cheating on him. It would just be his son and Jack’s mother would have no reason to hide him. Also we can figure Jack nose and by his reaction to his mother trying to tell him, it doesn’t seem happy about it. All this leads me to assume he is Severin son.
